This year marks the 500th anniversary of the fall of the Mexica capital of México-Tenochtitlán to Spanish invaders. The things that were most valued in Aztec society, were not gold or precious stones, but flowers, feathers and poetry. To commemorate these events I printed this small broadside of translated poetry paired with a linocut of the fighting on the causeway that opened the siege of the capital city.
